farewell honeybee

FAREWELL SWEET HONEYBEE

This post will be brief & honest. Honeybee must sadly close it’s doors. Unfortunately we didn’t get the support we needed – it’s as simple & plain as that. No fancy excuses. Thank you a million times over for those who did support us & this beautiful little dream. I’ll greatly miss the little ones who came to create in our beautiful space. Perhaps Honeybee will return when her time is right. Until then … much love & big creative dreams.

simple & thoughtful

I like to think of Honeybee’s handwork projects akin to that of a great organic restaurant that determines it’s days menu based on what was freshest at the market that morning. Rather than a seemingly endless selection of options, I have a small refined selection that will always be changing, always shifting. Simple & thoughtful. I source unique, natural materials from many different places, while repurposing and giving new life to old textiles whenever possible. Because of this perhaps a wonderful slate grey knit fabric you used to create one project, may never be found again or used in a similar way by another. Your project has an added element of uniqueness that makes it entirely yours. I like that.

herbs & botanicals

What is one of my favourite projects in studio right now? I think it has to be any creation that involves our organic botanicals & herbs. Honeybee has Lavender, Jasmine, Rose, Chamomile and so many more beautiful healing herbs to make a custom blend for you or for someone else. Each botanical has a history, mythology and folklore; some represent love and relaxation, others prosperity and protection. Imagine a studio visit to support and say hello, a hot cup of tea and a wonderful time selecting just the right combination of herbs to create a custom Dream Pillow or Infusion for someone on your Christmas list. I do hope to see you soon! ox.

young watercolor artists

First they selected their color palettes, then watched as the color came to life on the paper. Watercolor painting can be kind of magic. I am a huge fan of children’s abstract watercolor art pieces — I love seeing the results of them exploring color, movement & texture on the paper.
